FAQ

1. What is Gold-Filled?

It is a quality material that is common in all types of jewelry. The product is easy to care for and will usually maintain its golden shine for a lifetime.

Gold filled jewelry is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is stainless steel .Unlike plated (aka electroplated or "dipped") metals, Gold-filled is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the karatage of the gold alloy. Our Gold-filled items are 18k gold filled.

2. What is Gold Plated? – Gold plating is a layer of solid gold applied to a brass base but we also do have the stainless which is the main metal we are fully transitioning to. The plating does not compose any measurable proportion of the products total weight. It is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will generally wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product that’s why we prefer stainless steel to ensure a long lasting item. It does not stand up to heat, water or wear over time with the brass metal

3. The Difference Between Gold-Filled and Solid Gold

Solid gold is 100% gold and has no mixed metals. Gold filled is a mixture of real gold layering over another metal such as stainless steel.
5. Can I Get My Jewelry Wet?

Yes you can, unless it is gold plated and we always state if a charm is gold plated or not in our description for each piece. We just do not recommend spraying perfume directly on your gold filled jewerly. Remember to clean it with a warm cloth after contact to keep the shine on your gold filled jewelry.

9. How do I take care of my jewelry?

With any type of jewelry, even solid gold jewelry and solid silver jewelry, regular cleaning and upkeep is needed to keep your gold filled jewelry at its best condition. Simply use warm water and soap or a polishing cloth to clean. You can use our gold filled jewelry in water, however do wipe it down with warm water after you’re done, especially after being submerged in salt water. Sweat can also make your gold filled jewelry duller quicker, especially gold filled necklaces, so remove these when you are working out.
